Alex’s Commentary

With the main focus on the technical aspects of what constitutes the Good News (the protos of the Gospel), the Apostle also gives us the evidence we must look for if we want to verify His work in us. And this evidence appears in the communal (plural “you” in verses 1 and 2) and personal (verses 5 to 11) responses to the Gospel. This combination of His Beauty and its implication is vital for life and, therefore, we must remember it constantly.

For Your Consideration

  • React to the statement, “… the saddest thing is how easy we forget His grace.”
  • In the light of our passage, explain the irony of the phrase “¡Entonces, cristiano, aférrate a Su gracia!”
  • How does 1 Cor.15:1-2 apply to you?
  • What evidence is there of you receiving, standing, and being saved by the Gospel?
  • How is biblical humility (1 Cor. 15:8-11) in direct opposition to the Me-First approach to life?

Extra Credit

  • Define the full Gospel of grace using your own words.
  • Keep this personal definition handly, and ask the LORD for opportunities to share it.
